Beyond the curb-appeal boost, new windows pay you back twice — once through lower heating and cooling bills, and again at resale, where replacement projects return 75.5% of their cost on average (2025 Cost vs. Value Report). If your current windows are drafty, foggy between the panes, or original to the home, replacement usually makes more sense than another round of repairs.
Below you’ll find project pricing by window type, our top-ranked window contractors, and answers to the most common questions. Still weighing repair vs. replace? See the signs it’s time to replace your windows, compare frame materials, or check the full cost guide.

These companies are ordered by their real customer rating, taken from public review platforms and dated when we recorded it. It is not an editorial score and not a ranking of build quality — most ratings describe a single branch listing, so read the scope note on each company’s review page before comparing.
Renewal by Andersen consistently earns top marks in the window replacement category — their Fibrex composite frames genuinely outperform standard vinyl on insulation and long-term durability. Customer reviews across their independently-owned regional affiliates confirm this: installers are repeatedly praised for punctuality, cleanup, and craftsmanship, though satisfaction does vary somewhat by which local affiliate handles your installation. Homeowners who pay the premium price (typically 20–30% above mid-range competitors) overwhelmingly report feeling the investment was worthwhile. The in-home design consultation is how RbA tailors each installation to your specific window dimensions and style preferences.
Rite Window is a Northeast installation specialist and the exclusive KOHLER LuxStone shower wall dealer in its region — a premium, grout-free stone shower product not available through most competitors in their coverage footprint. Now operating within the broader Renuity platform, expect their back-office and scheduling to increasingly resemble that network; confirm your specific installer's local track record at your consultation.
Long Home Products has served the East Coast for 65+ years across bath, roofing, and windows, and reviews are strongest on crew professionalism and cleanup once a job is underway. Their marketing outreach is active — if you're not currently in the market, let them know directly and ask to be removed from their contact list.
Home Genius Exteriors holds Owens Corning Platinum Preferred status (top 1% of contractors) plus James Hardie Elite and CertainTeed 5-Star certifications, and reviews back up the credentials — homeowners repeatedly single out their dedicated project managers for staying in touch throughout the job. Crews are described as fast and considerate of property across windows, roofing, siding, and gutters, not just one specialty. Their promotional "50% off materials" offer explicitly excludes windows and doors — confirm what's actually included before you count on it.
American Home Design has specialized in windows and bath work around Nashville and greater Tennessee for 30+ years, and reviews are strongly positive on crew punctuality, efficiency, and clean job sites — including from repeat customers across multiple projects. As a regional company, confirm they currently serve your specific city before requesting a quote.
Window Nation pairs exclusive Soft-Lite and Anlin product lines with an Installation Masters’ certified crew network and a Lifetime Plus warranty. Reviews are strong on install-day execution — crews show up on time and finish clean — and the company describes a 50-Point Factory Inspection on every unit before it ships. As with any regional installer network, warranty and follow-up service responsiveness can vary by branch, so keep your paperwork and confirm response-time expectations during the consultation.
Windows USA has manufactured windows factory-direct since 1977, offering a lifetime manufacturer warranty across its 14-state Southern footprint. Reviews describe a smooth handoff from sales to installation and noticeable comfort improvement post-install, with occasional minor field adjustments needed for sizing — normal for any custom-manufactured window install.
ImproveIt! Home Remodeling has specialized in Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee for 30+ years, using W-2 (not subcontracted) installers for windows and bath work, backed by a transferable lifetime warranty that real customers cite as a key reason for choosing them. Reviews are strong on finished quality and crew professionalism; some note the in-home sales presentation runs long, so budget real time for that first visit.
Pinnacle Home Improvement is a Southeast roofing and windows specialist (GA/TN/NC/AL/FL) with reviews praising fast, clean, professional installer crews and hands-on help navigating storm insurance claims. As with Long Home, if you've already decided against a purchase, ask directly to be taken off their follow-up call list.
Victory Home Remodeling is both the manufacturer and installer for its roofing and siding products in the NJ/NY/PA/DE/MD corridor, which real customers cite as a reason for trusting the finished result — one company accountable start to finish rather than a sales layer over a third-party installer. Reviews consistently describe crews as professional and respectful of property, and the GAF Master Elite designation (top 2% of GAF-certified contractors) backs their roofing warranty.
Mad City Windows & Baths is a Wisconsin-founded multi-trade remodeler (windows, bath, cabinets) now operating as part of the Renuity home improvement platform — a regional brand within a national platform. Their Customer Bill of Rights and Guildmaster Award recognition reflect a genuine focus on installation accountability, and reviews back up the installer-level experience as professional and efficient. Because Mad City now shares back-office and scheduling systems with other Renuity brands, expect the sales and install experience to increasingly resemble that broader network.
FHIA Remodeling has been a Florida-focused remodeler for 50+ years and recently became part of the Renuity national platform (some listings now show as "Renuity of South Florida") — a regional brand within a national platform, similar to Mad City in the Midwest. Reviews are strongest on their impact-window and roofing installation quality; as with any brand transitioning into a larger platform, get warranty terms confirmed in writing since contract language can shift during a rebrand.
Hansons is a Great Lakes multi-trade specialist running its own in-house crews across windows, roofing, and siding, backed by a four-tier Smart Choice warranty system (only the top Smart Choice tier carries the full Lifetime Guarantee — ask which tier your quote includes). Customer reviews consistently describe the sales process as informative rather than pushy, and installation crews are frequently praised for speed on same-day multi-window jobs. Hansons is also an exclusive ProVia siding dealer in its markets, which is worth asking about if you're bundling projects.
Clear Choice markets itself across New England and Pennsylvania, but our own lead-routing data shows their most consistently active market concentrated around Harrisburg, PA — a regional specialist, not a national company. Reviews reflect a company accountable for a tight footprint: crews are praised for communication and clean installs on siding, gutter, and roofing work. Their fiber cement expertise includes James Hardie certification, and they offer detailed written estimates with itemized material and labor breakdowns. Confirm your specific ZIP is in their active service area before requesting a quote.
DaBella is a GAF Master Elite and James Hardie Elite Preferred contractor offering roofing, siding, and windows with financing connected through unaffiliated third-party lenders (DaBella itself doesn't originate the loan). Independent review platforms show a wide range depending on where in the customer journey the review was left — ratings skew highest at the initial in-home consultation stage and are more mixed once you look past that first impression, which is worth knowing going in. Get the full warranty terms and financing APR in writing before signing, and don't feel pressured to decide in a single visit.
Statewide Remodeling is a Texas-based multi-trade remodeler (bath, windows, patio doors) now part of the Renuity platform, and reviews consistently praise on-time, professional crews and a low-pressure sales process across its projects. As Statewide integrates further into Renuity's national systems, confirm current scheduling and warranty contacts at the time you sign.
Lednor Home Solutions is the regional Gutter Helmet dealer for Maryland, DC, and Virginia, and reviews consistently praise punctual, clean installation crews. A recurring, fair theme in reviews is scheduling speed for repair/warranty service calls — ask about typical response time for service requests before you sign.
WinChoice USA is a factory-direct vinyl window manufacturer serving 14 Southern and Midwest states with a triple-pane option. Review volume is thinner than larger national brands, and what's there is positive on crew punctuality and cleanup; given the smaller sample, ask for references in your specific market.

People search for window replacement, replacement windows, window installation and window contractors more or less interchangeably, but two of those describe genuinely different jobs and it is worth knowing which one you are buying before anyone quotes you.
Window repair fixes a specific failure — a broken balance, failed hardware, a rotted sill, a blown seal on one unit. It is the right call when the frames are sound and one or two windows have a problem. Window replacement swaps the unit itself, and is the right call when seals are failing across the house, frames are rotted, or the windows are original single-pane.
The other distinction that changes price: insert replacement fits a new unit inside the existing frame and is faster and cheaper; full-frame replacement removes the frame back to the rough opening and is genuinely necessary when the frame itself has failed. A company that only sells one of the two will tend to recommend that one — which is exactly why a second quote is worth the hour it takes.
Window companies and window installers are not the same thing either. Some manufacturers sell and install their own product only; independent window installers fit multiple brands. Neither is automatically better, but it explains why quotes for "the same" job vary so widely.
